It’s pumpkin season, and that’s a wonderful thing. I don’t think I’ve ever soon so many pumpkins! In all the supermarkets and grocery stores, there are pumpkins. I’m really enjoying it since Paris I didn’t really have the whole ‘pumpkin’ experience in Paris. Halloween isn’t that important over there either, but it’s starting to develop more. Now that I’m living in U.S., I just had to make the traditional pumpkin pie. I was quite surprised that it turned out good as it was my first try. I will most definitely be cooking up more of them throughout the years, and this recipe is just perfect.
So my parents bought this house 1 hour away from Paris and it’s gigantic. Well… our garden is. It’s not really a garden, it’s more like a forest in our backyard, which is wonderful! The best thing about our huge “garden” is that we have lots of fruit and veggie plants that grow all over the place. One day, my mom brought back some a large quantity of delicious blackberries that I just couldn’t believe came from our garden. Obviously, I had to use them one way or another and decided to make blackberry muffins, which no one really ever thinks of making. Personally, I prefer them over blueberry muffins because they end up being less sweet.
Granola is probably one of the easiest things to make at home. Which is great for me because I prefer knowing exactly what sort of ingredients I put into the food I eat. Usually the granola I buy in grocery stores is too sweet, has nuts and dried fruit that I don’t necessarily like. I could never find the perfect granola that when I would wake up in the morning, I would immediately think of granola for breakfast. I kept looking for ‘the’ granola brand, but never could. Instead, I resorted to trying to make my own, which turned out to be the best thing for me.

When I was little, madeleines would be my favorite snack. They were the ideal size for a sugar-craving kid and had the most appetizing fruity flavor. Fruity? Yes, fruity. One of madeleine’s main ingredient is lemon or orange juice to give it that nice taste that we all know of. So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and make a batch now as a great afternoon treat.
The best feeling in summer is when you drink ice-cold water that instantly makes you feel more refreshed. For me, the heat makes me crave anything cold and fresh to reinvigorate my senses and keep me from passing out in the sun. However, sometimes simple ice-cold water doesn’t do it for me – I need some kind of flavor or acidity. So a lot of the time you will see me putting random ingredients into my iced water. It’s a fantastic way to detox, refresh your body, and be healthy! Instead of drinking insanely sweet and artificial iced tea, iced coffee, or soda, just drink flavored water. Another plus is that it’s super easy to make. My personal favorite so far is mint and cucumber, but rose water is also one of my top 3.
