Who needs a top when you can just wear your silk scarf instead? This is something I would wear on repeat over the summer when I got bored of my closet and wanted to switch it up a little. The versatility of your mom’s or grandma’s everyday silk scarf is one of the best things to have in your wardrobe and I rarely want to leave without one.
There are things that can’t be imitated or reproduced the same way old things were. There’s so much history to be found behind an ‘antique’ creation, sometimes the past of it can’t be retraced, which makes it all the more special. It leaves a lot to imagination – who wore this item before me? Who adopted it as their own? The story could be decoded in a million ways, but you will never really know unless you have a sort of testimony. Most importantly though, is the emotion and feeling of the product that has been carried along with its story.
All things vintage inspired in terms of clothing are not to be missed. Fashion, after all, is mostly about pulling pieces from past decades and transforming it into something new and contemporary. There are also some looks that are so iconic and distinctive that have remained present throughout the years, such as David Bowie, Madonna, Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot… the list goes on. Not only do these people speak to many people on some kind of personal level, but they also inspire one to play dress up once in a while and switch up their look a bit.
It’s been a while… Things have been piling up and trying to be a responsible adult is wearing at times (I think anyone can agree on that). Nonetheless, summer is getting closer by the minute and time is flying by. Every day is an adventure and we must take advantage of it as much as possible. It’s difficult to do so when the weather is irregular and fairly gloomy, but there’s always something to do even when you’re despondent.
In this quick weekend getaway to Paris, I decided to spend half a day in Versailles. It was absolutely stunning – the flowers had bloomed and the weather wasn’t too hot or cold. I hadn’t been for quite a while so it was the perfect day to go.
